  • Good Morning

My goodness it's been too long since my last update and I apologize.  Life seems to be so busy right now it's hard to pinpoint it all down.  For those of you who know anything about me I am always trying to simplify my life by decluttering belongings and unnecessary stuff.  A friend just decluttered some people from Facebook who were just nosy.  I think that is so good to do.  Just rid ourselves of that burden.  Anyways, last night we as a family sat down and read a chapter from Proverbs and I thought this will be so good for the children.  It ended up being so good for me!  I really needed to hear that lesson.  It was so sweet to see my husband leading our little family Bible study.  To think that it's only been a year since he made a personal relationship with Christ.  God is so good!  We are in deep prayer as I go to the doctor on Friday to have some tests run.  I am a bit scared but trying to be completely trusting in the Lord during this difficult time.  I don't want to get into the details but I do ask you to keep my family in prayer as the results will greatly affect us.  If nothing more, I ask you to keep my girls in prayer.  They are so little and I worry for them more than me.

So Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I am starting to prepare for that.  We will eat here since my Mom has to work on Thanksgiving.  She works at Walgreens and ends up having to work nearly every holiday.  They make her work cause they know she will be reliable.  She needs the income so I guess there's no use complaining.  I like cooking a meal here anyways.  I love to cook and the holiday meals are always memorable ones.  Well, I must go clean now.  My aunt Rob is coming for a visit and she has been dubbed the Martha Stewart of our family so a tidy place is a must!  Love to all!

  • Vacation and More

Well life returns to normal today as my hubby goes back to work and the children and I doing our normal chore routines.  We went to the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio and then off to Kelley's Island by ferry.  It was a great time and the kids had a great time.  Kalahari is an African Safari themed resort with the largest indoor waterpark in the US.  It was a new experience for us and I bought a package deal that included most of our meals so it wasn't bad at all.  The pictures I've attached are mainly from Kelley's Island.  I wanted to share some pics of the homes there.  They were absolutely beautiful.  We found it amazing that folks live on the island year round.  There isn't any large grocery stores on the island.  So the little grocery they have can charge $5 or more for a gallon of milk, etc.  We ferried over there and then rented a go-cart to go around the island and to the beach.  The beach was clean with smooth sand and clear water.  Sandusky is only a three hour drive for us so it was great to get away yet be close to home still.  Yesterday we went to the Shaker Woods Festival which is a huge craft show.  It was awesome.  Dear hubby even gave me some cash to buy some things.  I only ended up buying 2 things but they were worth it.  The first item is a oak lazy susan tray for our dining room table.  It is nice and big so all the spices, napkins, straws, sugar packets, etc. can fit on it nice and neat.  My adopted philosophy of everything  having a place is finally happening here.  I was also able to acquire over the weekend a base cabinet with a  6ft counter for my kitchen.  The storage is awesome!  I plan to clean it out well today and then put down some leftover wall paper as shelf liner.  I cannot wait to fill it up with all the stuff I have piled high on my fridge.  As a matter of fact I think I'll start on that now.  Have a great day and week my friends!

  • MONDAY!

Here are some photos of some famous landmarks in Fayette County, Pa.  Fayette County was named after the French General, The Marquis de LaFayette. In the American Revolution, Lafayette served in the Continental Army under George Washington.  The first picture is of Albert Gallatin's home.  Albert Gallatin was born in Geneva, Switzerland in 1761 and was the Sec. of Treasury, Congressman and founder of the New York University.  He owned this mansion in Fayette County and many acres of property which he named Friendship Hill.  It has been restored and is breathtaking

This next photo is of Frank Lloyd Wright's famous Falling Water Home.  The water runs right through the center of the home.

The last is a photo of Chrisian Clay Vineyards.

Just wanted to share some photos from my hometown.

    Have a great day!

Here we are Monday again.  Our house is so quiet.  Two of my three children are spending some time with their grandparents.  All three were supposed to go but Brooke caught a cold and has pink eye.  So it's just her and Jason and I.  How weird it would be with just the three of us.  She's lovin' all the individual attention which is great since she's the oldest and I depend on her probably a little more than I should.  I think I'm gonna have her eye checked out this morning after I clean the missionary house at the church.  I have two tickets to the Pittsburgh Zoo and am hoping she will feel better so that maybe she and I could go Wednesday.  The twins aren't coming back until Thursday.  So we leave for our vacation on Monday morning and I can't wait.  It will be so nice to get away even if it's just for a few days.  We're going to a resort that has an indoor waterpark among other fun activities for kids.  The rooms are all theme based and really geared toward children.  I'll take lots of photos!  We've finally paired down a lot of our belongings and it's so much easier to clean the house!  It's so freeing to get rid of stuff.  My friend is giving me a base cabinet with a counter top for my kitchen.  I have very little counter space and storage in my kitchen.  It drives me crazy not having a place for everything or room to work.  So I'm hoping I can get that in my kitchen soon.  The only thing is that if it goes in my little table has to go.  That means we will eat in the dining room that has pure white carpeting.  It was here when we moved in.  We want to put different flooring down but have too many other home projects that need attention first.  We want to get our woodstove up and running.  I would love to cook on it this winter and have a fire burning all winter long.  I love the smell of a wood fire.  I have some laundry that desperately needs some tending to.

P.S.  Tess, I'm working on your Little House tapes and thank you for the mail!  You're so dear to me!

  • My To Do List Is Long Today

I have so much to do today and am fighting the urge to go back to bed.  It is only 6 am.  We are visiting my inlaws this weekend and I have to pack up for all of us plus make a lasagna, a dessert and maybe some bread.  We also have piano lessons and I need to go shopping.  YIKES!  My hubby is working until 4 hopefully.  I'd like to get on the road no later than 5.  That would put us there at 7.  Okay, I'm laying down for an hour.  This is too overwhelming right now.  Talk to you all later.

  • Hi!  I hope you're having a great day!  I am renewed with the sense of appreciation.  I have so much love for my family and all that God has given us.  Blessings are all around us and sometimes we just have to look for them but they are there.  Sometimes I get into a rut of day to day chores, etc.  Today I feel grateful to be able to cook dinner for my family and to wash their laundry.  I've been wanting to post some pictures of my house and some projects I've been working on (family room).  So I ran around with the camera today and snapped a few photos.  I hope you enjoy.  Nothing fancy just my little house on the prairie. LOL!  Have a great day!
